Information storage has grown beyond printed materials like books to electronic medium accessed by computers. Because computers are so vital to accessing information for research, news, learning, and entertainment, Wilkinsburg Public Library and the Eastridge Branch have many desktop computers that are connected to the internet available for patrons. You must have a valid, fine-free library card to be able to use the computers. Our wireless network connected to the internet is also available to patrons who wish to bring their own laptop computer to the library. A valid, fine-free library card is required for you to connect to the network.
There are countless collections of information online for patrons, and therefore, the library periodically offers classes on connecting to the internet, setting up and using e-mail, and searching for information on the internet. Because you may need to study or present the results of your online research or learning, there are classes on using Microsoft Word™ and Microsoft Excel™. Contact Wilkinsburg Public Library at 412-244-2940 or the Eastridge Branch at 412-342-0056 for more information.
